Its interesting what love means to different people. There are some who believe that any time the words "i love you" are spoken they are a lie. Love to them is a feeling so powerful that it cannot possibly be conveyed with words. They refuse to say it in relationships and hate to hear it. To them nobody is ever in love when they say they are. Everybody speaks of how overwhelming this feeling of love is. So if it is that overwhelming why is it spoken so much?

There are others who think differently. These people throw around the word as if its an everyday emotion. At ages during which they could never comprehend such things (very possibly every age other than 3 and 96) they tell a boyfriend or girlfriend whom theyve known for two weeks and been dating for one week that they love said lucky lad or lass. These people have no problem saying it and hear it as though its their name, something they hear daily.

When these two types combine the outcome is usually bad. The second tells the first they love them and usually dont get a reply. Perhaps a "yeah..." but nothing more. This leads to the first feeling unloved and unwanted. The second feels as if they are in a childish relationship or one that will certainly go nowhere fast. Such feelings result in the ultimate demise of such flings.

I am more of the first type. While it does appear terribly pessimistic i would much rather never love rather than to think each time that i was to have my hopes crushed. Pessimism appeals far more than destroyed optimism.

I spoke to a girl today about a relationship her friend is in and how the boy (never man) wants to break up. "I mean, he still loves her and everything but he doesn't want to be with her forever." At this point I felt the need to interject.

"He doesn't love her. Nobody loves anybody"

even if love never truly is conveyed in words, relationships can lead to something a lot like love. I guess you can only severely like someone in a relationship at this age. ;)
